A surgery at the Montreal Children’s Hospital is being hailed as a miracle.
A six-centimetre tumour was removed from a baby’s brain – a tricky operation at the best of times, even more so when the patient is premature baby less than a week old.
Jolan Lemieux was born via C-section a month before his Sept. 22 due date, with a six-centimetre tumour already apparent on his brain.
Dr. Farmer says operations like this one are never easy.
“The brain is never ready to face surgery, but the brain of a premature child is very fragile,” he says. “These tumours, they cause us some shivers.
But the operation was successful, and the tumour was removed in a six-hour operation.
